Emma Milanese (Executive Officer & Secretary)Emma is a founding member of SportsUnited. Emma has a Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of South Australia, with minors in Allied Health and Health Promotion. Emma has recently started a PhD at Flinders University. Emmas study seeks to explore the benefits of a newly built sport facility on a local community. Emma has extensive experience with developing and coordinating Sport for Development programs across South Australia, working with various population groups including – migrants and refugees, adolescents and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and culturally and linguistically diverse communities, as well as rural communities. |
Richard McGrath (Chairperson)Richard is a founding member of SportsUnited. Richard has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Recreation Planning and Management)(Honours) from the University of South Australia. In 2012, Richard completed his PhD at the University of South Australia. Richard's PhD study focused on the provision of the community recreation opportunities for people with disabilities by Australian local government authorities. Richard has been involved with managing and organising community youth sport activities for over 40 years. Richard is currently the Vice President of the Australian & NZ Association for Leisure Studies |
Katja SiefkenKatja is a founding member of SportsUnited. Katja is a public health researcher with a specific interest in reducing non-communicable disease risk through physical activity and sport and development initiatives. Katja has conducted a number of individual and collaborative public health research and consultancy projects. For over a decade, Katja has been involved in health research in the South Pacific Islands and serves as an adviser and consultant to the World Health Organization. Here, she provides technical input for Non Communicable Disease prevention and control initiatives, ranging from rural and urban community project evaluations to health policy development. Katja worked with the Wokabaot Jalens in Vanuatu – a research-based and health-focused sport for development program that engages local communities in health behaviour change. |
Martyn AndersonMartyn has a Bachelors degree in Engineering and Commerce from the University of Western Australia. Martyn has spent his career working in renewables in both an engineering and commercial capacity, having more recently worked in a commercial role in green hydrogen and renewable project development with Fortescue Energy. Sport was and continues to be a big part of Martyn’s life. He has represented Western Australia and his university in European Handball and Australia at the Beach Handball World Championships in Brazil in 2014. He was club president of the University Handball Club for 2 years and coached school students in basketball. |
Lauren MarascoLauren has a Masters Degree in Counselling, Graduate Diploma in Counselling and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing). Lauren currently works at Mind Australia as the National Lead Practitioner for Recovery Retreats. Lauren is a passionate life-long learner, bookworm, yogi, cat lover and friend. |
